Breadth of Experience

Individualized and Safe Delivery

Individualized and Safe Delivery

With two decades of experience working in a variety of different settings and states; I continue to enjoy helping students and families find the right method of instruction and watch them grow.  Students want to learn but can not always grasp the knowledge the way it is being delivered in the classroom.  I will help identify strategies to build confidence, independence and organization to help them reach full potential.

Experienced Teacher and Parent

Individualized and Safe Delivery

Experienced Teacher and Parent

As a mom of two young children, I understand first hand the balance of identifying needs, finding appropriate support for the child, receiving tools  to  best to support at home, and figuring out how to find time to do this.  I  value that I'm working with a family, and that there are many different components to family life. When I'm offering tools to support the students' efforts, I make sure that the student knows the expectation, and that the parent can print and start, with minimal effort.

Testimonials

"Miracle Worker

Heather is a miracle worker. My son, RS, grade 1, started the year substantially behind in reading as he has missed half of his kindergarten year due to Covid. I spoke to Heather in August and was very impressed with how clearly she explained her process and identified, based on my explanation of RS’ deficits, how she could help. When they first started, RS HATED to read. He had an absolute meltdown when we attempted to work with him at home and perceived reading as a burdensome chore. Working with Heather changed his entire perspective. Now he loves to read! Throughout this process, I’ve seen how patiently Heather navigates and gently pushes RS to stay on task while still giving him freedom to “be a kid”. They have a magical relationship—a perfect balance of fun and progress. RS is an exceptional reader now due to her efforts. We bought him a kindle and he reads every day (and night) without prompting in order to collect his “kindle awards”. I highly and enthusiastically recommend Heather. It was the best decision we have made!

"Heads above other tutors"

The magical element was Mrs. Medeiros who taught my son coached him in a firm and loving way and shared all of her insights with me so that I could see the profile emerge.  I now had the view of an expert to compliment my mother's instinct.  Mrs. Medeiros is a wonderful guide for the child but also the parents.  As a business person, I know my skills and weaknesses and wanted to get the best support from an expert for my son with reading and writing.  Mrs. Medeiros stood heads above other tutors I interviewed because of her expeince as a special education teacher for 18 years in a great MA district.

"Exactly what my child needed"

Strategies for Students was exactly what my child needed!  She set healthy boundaries for listening and respect during the session which carried over to home.  Her executive function techniques are easy to understand and fun!  For classwork, we saw the added benefit of using real examples from her assigned individual class projects and breaking down a plan for each.  We began to notice a significatnt improvement in our child's ability to break down tasks and improvement in her awareness of the feeling of others.  We highly recommend this wonderful program!
